Book is very good with separation starting at inner hinges and small tears, but all pages intact. First Edition, Early Printing (has Scribner s seal on copyright and date of 1951 on title page: lacking A on copyright). Satisfaction guaranteed! Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. ![]() This collectible, very good, first edition copy is protected with an archival mylar dust jacket cover. Other than that, this is a nice, clean copy. ![]() Dust jacket is price-clipped and shows other signs of wear including chips on the upper spine, a 1" tear on the lower left front page, and a 2-1/2" tear along the lower right edge of the front page. There is a dime-sized spot on the front free endpaper that is mirrored on the inside jacket flap. There is some browning, mainly along the edges of the inside dust jacket flaps. Boards are flat and true, and the corners are square. A bookplate is neatly pasted to the front free endpaper. It is an early printing, but it does not have the "A." No writing, marks, or underlining. This is a first edition but not the first printing. Author's debut novel loosely based on his experiences in pre-WWII Hawaiian Division's 27th Infantry. ![]()
